Some ladies say that the most memorable and enjoyable parts of their wedding are the parties leading up to the big day. One of the big ones is the Bridal Shower-- a party thrown by a family member or friend in honour of the Bride and to "shower" her with gifts. This day is solely to honour the bride-to-be and a recent tradition has been letting the bride wear white to foreshadow the big day to come. Bridal showers are usually themed events, so how will you wear your LWD for the occasion? Today I've put together a few ideas for three very different Bridal Shower parties:
The Traditional Shower: Typically the traditional shower is held in a banquet hall and will be a mutli-course sit-down meal. This party is almost like a mini-wedding with only the ladies invited, so it's quite a formal affair! What to Wear: Try to stick with a sophisticated look by getting a little white dress with a modest but flattering cut. A dress with a peplum accentuates your waist and bring out an hourglass figure. Bonus points if your dress features some embellisments such as beading or fine lace for a couture touch! Add lots of glitz by accessorizing in matching costume jewelry in either all gold or all silver. Simple nude pumps will lengthen your legs and keep the focus on your dress and accessories. Go glam with your makeup by going with a subtle smokey eye. This is your chance to have fun with your formal fashion choices before your big day!
The High Tea Shower: Recently, a lot of showers have been "High Tea" themed. Blame it on the Kate Middleton effect again, but the British influences are showing in all recent wedding trends! A High Tea usually features a wide selection of teas and plenty of scones, biscuits and mini sandwiches to nibble daintily on. The atmosphere is social and everyone seems to know that you must wear a massive fascinator! What to Wear: Fascinators are your main accessory for a high tea! Go big or go home with your headpiece because it's a great chance to be over the top! Go with a dress with a voluminous skirt and otherwise simple cut and details. Accessorize with one accent colour for a playful look. I chose a rich turquoise but you could go with a theme colour to match your bridesmaids or the decor. Go easy on makeup and just do an accent lip colour to match your nails!
The Casual Shower: This shower can be anything from an at-home party to an outdoor picnic or themed activity. The atmosphere is typically easy-going What to Wear: Don't worry too much about spending a lot of money on a new dress. Pick one up from Zara or H&M for under $100 and you'll be comfortable and have something you can wear again soon. You can totally rock some fancier flats that day and go with an off-white purse to pull it all together. Amp up the fashion with a big statement bib necklace in some outstanding hues and try a messy braided updo for a relaxed but chic finish!
