Shoes. My obsession. My collection is big, diverse and getting difficult to store. I've thought about getting a new pair for my wedding day... but what if I already own a perfect pump that I can just spice up? There are a multitude of problems with getting new shoes for your wedding: comfort, style to match your wedding party & then thinking about the fact that you may never ever wear those shoes again!
Solution: shoe clips. They were huge in the 80's and 90's and are a bit harder to find these days but are a super easy DIY. By going with this simple accessory, you can easily just clip on some extra bling to your shoes & then take it off so you can wear them for other ocassions after. This can really solve the problem of finding all of your bridesmaids matching shoes-- just suggest a colour or colour palette for them to choose from so they can pick up shoes that are just right for them. Then gift them with some DIY matching shoe clips for the big day!

The possibilities are endless for style. You can use ribbons to make matching bows, use fake flowers, craft flowers, feathers or brooches. I combined flowers and brooches to make the ones in this post! You can even get creative with where to pin them. The classic spot is atop your toes, but clips also look great at the back of your ankles or on the sides of the shoes.
What you'll need:
- Your own choice of decor (I used a pair of large earrings and some silk hydrangeas)
- Blank shoe clips (the best place to buy these is on ebay; you can get a dozen for a few dollars!)
- Goop craft glue
- Scissors and pliers if needed
![]() Prepare your materials. If you used brooches or earrings, use some pliers to snip off the hardware on the back so you have a flat charm to work with! Snip your flowers or petals off too!
Simply glue all of your decor onto your blank shoe clip! It's that easy! Just let the glue set overnight & you're ready to go! Clip them on your plain pumps and that's it :)
Now these shoes are ready for a glamourous banquet hall wedding! ...but I can still take off the clips & throw these pumps on with my skinny jeans too! xo Sylvia All photos by Sylvia and Samantha unless otherwise indicated. |
